30 Poems, 30 Days: Garden Memory (Day 19)

Credit: Christy V. (March 9, 2020)

It seems like a distant memory, but it was a month ago

Walking through a botanical garden on a cloudy day

It seemed to be the start of Spring, which never happened

Or maybe it happened as I was hidden away

The garden seemed still as I expect the world to be now

Look up at the branches I see new life

For a moment, I forget the struggles on the ground

The hope of new beginnings seems gone, but it isn’t

They’ll come late to all of us when the time is ready

As this garden blooms a year around
